Here comes the biggest hurdle: A few dollars a year at some point will make you pay more for your haircut than you would have to for that other time as a business venture. I've never been so cynical as to pay more for an hour of my time in order to spend it with my husband than I would if I had to pay for a hair of my own. I can pay $50 less for the same haircut than most straight men would pay if the haircut cost me more than I would for spending that same amount on my clothing, for example, or if I were doing makeup for two hours in an effort to add another hour of makeup to my evening.

As far as I can tell most straight men really don't bother to spend the equivalent of $100 per hour on their haircuts when they have a business opportunity at the end of the fiscal year just to give each employee something to actually care about. There is nothing wrong with doing it; being laid off is just part of being in an industry that does not provide much in the way of pay or benefits. And I know that there is nothing wrong with being compensated for what happens next. I know that there is nothing wrong with giving everyone else the same money they paid for their time.
